Game Rules:
- Teams can only score a point if they are the team that is serving.
- Points are scored if the ball touches the ground, inbounds, on the other side, if the ball touches the line on the other side, if the other team hits the ball more than three times, if the other team carries the ball, or if a player hits the ball more than once.
- To regain the serve you must score a point in the way described in rule “2”, as well as if the server from the other team hits the ball into the net. The team will not get a point if it regains the serve, but only if they are serving.
- Each time a team regains the serve, they must rotate in a clockwise direction.
- Players can be substituted in only during a rotation.
- Players are only allowed to use arms/hands to hit the ball.
- A player can hit the ball if it is outside of the boundary lines.
- If the ball hits the ceiling, the curtain, or a basketball hoop, then it is out of play.
- A team is only allowed three hits per side.
- A block does not count as a hit.
- Spiking is not allowed during a serve.
- A player can hit the ball if it hits the net.
- You can not touch the net, if so; the other team will be rewarded with the point.
- The server may serve overhand or underhand, but must be behind the end line.
- If the ball hits the poll it is considered out of bounds.
- After each game, the two teams will switch sides.
- Each team has two time outs per game, of no longer than thirty seconds.
- A carry, which is a violation, is any open hand hit of the ball from underneath, or any held/carried ball.
Officiating:
- A “volley for serve” will determine who get’s the serve first.
- The volley must go over the net three times before a team may gain the first serve.
- Teams must win two games by at least two points, to be the winner of the match.
- Teams are expected to be honest and will aid in the calling of violations, such as out of bounds, carries, double hits, more than three hits, and touching the net.
- A trained RECentral employee will be there to keep score, to aid calling violations, and to resolve any disputes.
- The game clock will start on time.
- If a team does not have a minimum of five players, two of which are female, within the first ten minutes, the other team will be awarded five points and the serve. If they still don’t have enough players after fifteen minutes the other team will automatically be awarded a one to zero advantage in the match. After twenty minutes the team will be charged with a forfeit.
- Only captains are allowed to talk to RECentral officials over any disputes.
